Pioneer Tunnel Santa Train

We featured our first Coal Region Christmas Train in 2023, and it returned in Christmas 2024. This unique nighttime Christmas train is the only of its type in the area.  Join us for a magical 45-minute round trip journey with the Grinch on a decorated 1927 Steam Locomotive to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Christmas Retreat. Upon arrival at the Pioneer Tunnel guests must check in at the gift shop. A souvenir ticket will be given to each person. Passengers will then be directed to the Staudenmeier Train Station to present the ticket stub for removal by the Conductor. The Grinch will be waiting for your arrival to take photos and begin the journey. As you board the decorated OPEN AIR CAR steam train you will enjoy the sounds of Christmas music, and Holiday Cheer as you travel 3/4 mile to your destination. When you have arrived at your stop you will disembark the train and be greeted by Mr. & Mrs. Claus at the heated Christmas Retreat. All will feel the warm welcome and each child will be given a free treat. Once all visitors have concluded their visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus, they will board the train and return to the Pioneer Tunnel. There is Hot Cocoa & Coffee available for purchase inside the gift shop. Keep an eye out for the schedule on our Facebook page. The gift shop opens at 4:00 pm, come early and do some holiday shopping. You will want to check out the unique items that are available. REMEMBER TO DRESS WARM & BRING A BLANKET.
